Trnava University has been a proud member of the Erasmus+ programme since 1998, offering international students quality education, a friendly academic environment, and a wide range of cultural exchange opportunities.
Thanks to more than 200 active partnership agreements, the university collaborates with institutions across Europe and beyond.

Trnava University offers international students and staff the opportunity to take part in practical internships and gain administrative experience through cooperation with various institutions, including:

  • Nursing – In cooperation with the Trnava University Hospital, students can complete practical training in the field of healthcare. They participate in daily activities at selected departments under the supervision of professional staff.

  • Social Work – In collaboration with social institutions (e.g., homes for the elderly or social service centres), students gain experience working with diverse target groups, such as seniors, people with disabilities, or those in challenging life situations.

  • International Relations and Mobility Office (IRO) – International students and staff can take part in administrative work, assist with project organization, event management, and communication with international partners. This collaboration provides valuable experience in the field of international relations and university administration.

Step-by-Step Application Procedure

1. Verification at Your Home University

If you are interested in studying at Trnava University as an Erasmus+ student, your home institution must have a valid inter-institutional or bilateral agreement with our university.
This information can usually be found on your university’s website, or you may contact your Erasmus+ coordinator directly.
After confirming the agreement, you must complete the selection process at your home university. Once selected, your university will nominate you for an exchange stay.

2. Nomination

After being selected for an Erasmus+ study stay and choosing Trnava University as your host institution, your Erasmus+ coordinator will officially send your nomination on behalf of your home university via a nomination form, which can be provided upon request.

Your nomination will be either approved or rejected based on the decision of the relevant faculty.

Nomination deadlines:

  • 15 May – for students coming for the 1st (winter) semester or the entire academic year

  • 15 November – for students coming for the 2nd (summer) semester

3. Application
Once your nomination has been approved, you will receive an official confirmation email from the International Relations and Mobility Office (IRO) of Trnava University (see the Contact section for details). After the nomination deadlines (15 May / 15 November), IRO will send a group email to all nominated Erasmus+ students with detailed instructions on how to complete the online application form.

As part of your application, you will also have the opportunity to request accommodation in the university dormitory.
However, please note that the number of places is limited and accommodation cannot be guaranteed for all applicants.

Application deadlines:

  • 15 June – for students coming for the 1st (winter) semester or the entire academic year

  • 30 November – for students coming for the 2nd (summer) semester

A. Online Application Form

Fill in all the required fields in the online application form (link below), attach the necessary documents (PDF with Transcript of Records – list of grades, and a photo), and submit your application.

Make sure you include all your personal details, including your full permanent or current address (street, number, city, postal code, and country), as these details are essential for official documentation and legal purposes.

B. Learning Agreement & Course Selection

Along with your application, you must also complete the Online Learning Agreement, where you will select the courses you wish to attend at our university. A manual with instructions on how to fill it in correctly can be found here (LINK to Truni International > Important Documents > Manual – Online Learning Agreement).
If your university does not use the online version of the Learning Agreement, you can complete the paper version instead (LINK to Truni International > Important Documents > Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for Students on Internships).

The possibility of completing a traineeship within the Erasmus+ programme (during or after your studies) is assessed individually. If you are interested, please send an email to international@truni.sk including your photo, Transcript of Records, and the Learning Agreement for a Traineeship (or Traineeship Graduate).

Based on the submitted documents, your application will be reviewed, and the International Office will contact you with further information.

Preparation for Arrival

Before your arrival, you will receive a short guide about life in Trnava and practical information on how to get here. This will be sent to you by the Trnava ESN team. We also expect you to inform us about your arrival date. It is recommended to arrive a few days, at most one week, before the beginning of the semester.

Accommodation
Trnava University (TRUNI) offers a limited number of rooms at Petra Pázmaňa Dormitory, located at Rybníkova 13/A in Trnava (city center), for Erasmus+ students.

If you wish to stay in this dormitory, it is important to indicate your request in the application form. Due to limited capacity, students will be notified in advance whether accommodation has been granted.

Students are accommodated in double rooms with a bathroom, toilet, sink, and wardrobe.
Each room is equipped with a bed, desk, lamp, bookshelf, chairs, wardrobe, mini fridge, and Wi-Fi connection. Bed linen is provided and regularly changed. On each floor, there is a shared kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and sink. Kitchens for Erasmus+ students are furnished with basic kitchen utensils, dishes, cutlery, and other essentials for cooking. Tap water in Slovakia is safe to drink.

The dormitory also provides a self-service laundry room operated by a card payment system.
An iron and ironing board can be borrowed at the reception.
The monthly rent is 110 EUR per person, payable by the 20th day of each month.

EU students must pay electronically, while non-EU students may pay in cash at the dormitory reception (contact: Mrs. Baranová).

Upon arrival, students are required to pay a refundable deposit of 100 EUR.
This deposit will be refunded at the end of the stay, provided the room is returned in good condition. All formalities — registration, signing of the contract, receiving the dormitory card, and payment instructions — must be completed within two weeks of arrival. Information and support are provided by the International Office of the dormitory.

Dormitory rules will be provided during the orientation meeting or can be downloaded from the attached documents. Upon arrival, it is necessary to present your passport or ID card and fill in the registration form for foreign nationals. For faster processing, you can download and fill out the registration form in advance, sign it, and bring it with you.

If you plan to host visiting friends or family, you must book a guest room in advance.
Availability must be confirmed beforehand with the International Relations and Mobility Office (IRO).

Welcome to Trnava, welcome to Trnava University!

Once you arrive in Trnava and settle into your accommodation, you will:

  • In the first few days, visit the International Relations and Mobility Office (IRO) at the Rectorate, Hornopotočná 23 (office no. 13, ground floor), where you will receive your login details, a confirmation of arrival for your home university, and your ISIC card.

  • Meet your faculty Erasmus+ coordinator and get contact information for your lecturers.

  • Join the official guided tour of Trnava with a city guide and attend the welcome evening, organized together with the University of St. Cyril and Methodius (UCM) – a great opportunity to meet Erasmus+ students from both universities.

  • During the first 2–3 weeks, you will meet your teachers and, if needed, update your Learning Agreement in case of any course changes.

  • Throughout the first month, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved in the Erasmus+ student community in Trnava — such as social gatherings, movie nights, cultural events, dance lessons, and other activities organized by ESN Trnava or the university.

The first weeks and month are dedicated to adapting to your new environment, getting to know new people, and enjoying the events and activities around you.
