Trnava University has been a proud member of the Erasmus+ programme since 1998. We are pleased to offer our students the opportunity to participate in mobility programmes for study or training purposes.
Students of Trnava University can travel abroad within the Erasmus+ programme for a study stay lasting a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months per each level of study (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD – in either full-time or part-time form). This limit can be used all at once or divided across study periods and combined with an internship.
Student mobility is organised on the basis of inter-institutional agreements (IIA) between universities that establish cooperation between departments and faculties. A complete list of current valid agreements and open partnerships can be found at (link to Truni International > Agreements and Partnership). Before applying, students are encouraged to consult the Vice-Dean for International Relations and Cooperation of their faculty. The contact details for the faculty Erasmus coordinator are available at (link to the Contact section).
Conditions for participation in the Erasmus+ study programme:
- Open to all properly enrolled students (both full-time and part-time) starting from the summer semester of the first year of Bachelor’s studies.
- In the case of mobility during the first year of Master’s or PhD studies, students may travel abroad only after re-enrolment at that study level (as they are considered graduates until they register again).
The university’s strategy is to enable as many students as possible to study at a foreign university (participate in international mobility) :
- All students selected through the faculty’s internal selection process are eligible for mobility. The duration of their stay is determined by the period needed to complete both classes and exams abroad.
- Students supported by Erasmus+ funding receive full monthly grants. The current rates and updated programme details are available on the main page of Erasmus+ programme.
Selection Procedure Rules for Outgoing Erasmus Students
1. Application for the Selection
Procedure
The selection process for student mobilities for the next academic year takes place at the faculty level, usually at the end of October of the preceding academic year.
Each faculty is required to publish the selection criteria for Erasmus+ student mobility on its website no later than three weeks before the selection procedure begins for the respective academic year.
Applications for Erasmus+ study mobility are organised in two cycles:
- For the summer semester of the current academic year: starting on the Monday of the penultimate week of October (i.e. 20 October 2025).
- For the winter or summer semester of the following academic year: starting on the Monday of the penultimate week of February (i.e. 16 February 2026).
Beginning on Monday of each application cycle, students will have 14 calendar days to complete the online application form, which is required to take part in the selection process.
2. Selection Interview
Every Erasmus+ applicant must undergo a transparent selection process organised by their faculty, which also defines the selection criteria.
The selection committee evaluates each applicant’s submission, taking into account:
- the esteemed average grade from their studies to date,
- the language proficiency level (based on the language in which the student intends to study or complete their stay abroad),
- the benefit of the mobility for the student’s personal and academic development (e.g. thesis work, dissertation, or other projects),
- the compatibility of the study programme at the host institution with the student’s home faculty programme,
- a personal interview, part of which may be conducted in a foreign language. The date and location of the interview will be announced in advance.
The interviews are linked to the application cycles mentioned above:
- For the summer semester of the current academic year, interviews take place during the second week of November (i.e. 10–14 November 2025).
- For the winter or summer semester of the following academic year, interviews take place during the second week of March (i.e. 9–13 March 2026).
3. After the Interview
Each faculty is required to inform students about the results of the selection procedure.
The list of selected and substitute candidates, together with the evaluation report, must include a point-based assessment of individual selection criteria. The faculty then submits the complete report to the Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO) no later than one week after the completion of the selection process.

Each year in February, the IRO organizes an online information meeting for all students who have successfully passed the selection process.
During this session, students receive detailed guidance about the next steps and the list of required documents.
The Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO) is responsible for nominating students to partner universities abroad.
- For the winter semester, nominations are usually carried out from late February to mid-April.
- For the summer semester, nominations take place from late September to mid-November.
BEFORE MOBILITY – ACCEPTANCE BY THE HOST UNIVERSITY
After a successful nomination, the student will receive a confirmation email from the host university, along with detailed information and the required documents, which must be completed and submitted to the host university within the specified deadline.
I. Online Learning Agreement (OLA)
Among the essential documents is the Learning Agreement (DLA/OLA), which must be completed and signed electronically via the application https://learning-agreement.eu/.
Within the Erasmus+ programme, each university has its own identification code. The code for Trnava University in Trnava is SK TRNAVA01. Instructions on how to complete the OLA can be found in the Truni International section under. “Important Documents → Manual – Online Learning Agreement”, or in a video tutorial available here.
II. Other Documents
Acceptance by the host university usually means obtaining an Acceptance Letter and an approved Learning Agreement for Studies (in most cases provided via the application). The student must then follow the guidelines of the host university, which may include arrangements for accommodation, Welcome Week, submission of additional documents, and other requirements.
At least six weeks before departure, the student must send the Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO) a notification of acceptance from the host university (Acceptance Letter — in electronic or printed form, depending on the university’s requirements).
Once the acceptance documents are received, the student will be sent a Financial Support Agreement (Grant Agreement) by email, along with further instructions and information.
Once the student receives the Acceptance Letter from the host university and the Online Learning Agreement (OLA) signed by both the sending and receiving institutions, it is necessary to arrange the following:
- Travel tickets – Under the new Erasmus+ programme period, students are eligible for financial incentives when using eco-friendly (green) means of transport for their mobility. The amount of financial support depends on the distance between the sending institution (Trnava) and the host university abroad. When choosing green travel, it is possible to claim up to four additional travel days to cover the journey to and from the destination.
- Accommodation – Housing may be provided by the host institution (e.g., student dormitory), or the student may arrange private accommodation independently.
Students with fewer opportunities are entitled to an additional financial contribution on top of the standard Erasmus+ grant:
- Long-term mobility: €250 per month for the entire mobility period
- Short-term mobility: One-time contribution of €100 for mobility lasting 5–14 days or one-time contribution of €150 for mobility lasting 15–30 days
More details about the eligibility criteria and conditions for participants with fewer opportunities can be found here.
Online Language Support (OLS) – Your Free Language Coach
If you are preparing for your Erasmus mobility and are not fully confident in your language skills - or would like to improve before departure - you can use Online Language Support (OLS).
It is a free online platform where you can:
- Take a language assessment test
- Track your progress
- Complete interactive language courses and exercises tailored to your level
OLS is an excellent opportunity to prepare for studying or interning abroad while boosting your communication confidence. All students are encouraged to take advantage of this free tool.
A user manual for OLS can be found in this presentation.
If a student decides not to participate in the mobility programme or shortens their stay for any reason, they must immediately inform the Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO).
MOBILITY IMPLEMENTATION
In case of any unexpected issues during your Erasmus+ mobility, please contact the Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO) of Trnava University.
For questions related to your studies (such as changes in subjects, number of credits, etc.), please contact your Faculty Coordinator directly.
Any necessary changes to the Learning Agreement identified after your arrival at the host university must be completed and formally documented within one month of your arrival, in the section titled “Changes” (instructions can be found in the OLA manual – see Truni International → Important Documents → Manual – Online Learning Agreement). Any additional changes must be formally approved by all three parties (the student, the sending institution, and the host institution) as soon as possible. According to the financial agreement, the student is required to obtain a minimum of 20 ECTS credits per semester.
If a student wishes to extend their mobility period, they must submit an Application for Prolongation of the Erasmus+ Mobility at least one month before the end of the current mobility period (see Truni International → Important Documents → Application-form_prolongation-of-the-erasmus-mobility). In the application, state your reason for requesting an extension, and send the form to the Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO) of Trnava University. You will then receive an email confirming whether your extension has been approved. If the extension is approved, a new Learning Agreement and an Addendum to the Financial Support Agreement will be issued. Further details will be provided directly by the Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO).
AFTER THE MOBILITY
After completing their mobility, the student must submit the following documents to the Office for International Relations and Mobility (IRO) no later than 30 days after the end of the stay:
- Certificate of Length of Stay – confirming the exact duration of the study stay (i.e., the first and last day at the host institution), signed by the coordinator at the host university. (See Truni International → Important Documents → certificate-of-departure–study).
- Confirmed Transcript of Records – part of the Learning Agreement (Part 3), issued by the host university. Please contact the International Office of your host institution to obtain it.
- Protocol on Recognition of Studies by the Faculty – recognition of study results at the home institution, issued by your faculty’s study department.
- Completion and submission of the Student Report to the EU-wide database (so-called Mobility Tool / EU Survey). Instructions for completing the report will be sent automatically by email from the database on the date when, according to the financial agreement, your mobility officially ends. Participants who fail to submit the report online or do not provide the required documents listed above may be asked by the institution to partially or fully return their financial support.
- Photos from your internship or study stay, a short article or a video presentation — we would be happy to share your experience on our social media channels.
Recommendation: Students are encouraged to obtain a Europass, in which their successful study or traineeship abroad will be officially recorded.
