It provides opportunities for study, traineeships, internships, exchanges, and cooperation projects among students, teachers, youth workers, and institutions.
Launched in 2014, Erasmus+ succeeded several previous EU programmes (such as Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius, and Youth in Action) and is a key part of the European Union’s strategy for education and mobility.

European Youth Strategy

Grants and Allowances
Every student or employee participating in Erasmus+ is entitled to a grant, the amount of which depends on specific criteria.
The Erasmus+ grant represents a net income for the participant and is exempt from taxation.
The maximum grant amounts are set by the European Commission, and all Slovak higher education institutions follow the same rates.
The total grant for students is calculated based on the number of days spent abroad and the monthly rate assigned to the destination country.
In addition, a one-time travel contribution is added to cover travel expenses, calculated based on the distance between the participant’s home and the host institution using the Distance Calculator.
Students receiving social scholarships, students with disabilities or special needs, and those facing financial hardship are eligible for an additional top-up grant of €250 per month.Grants are paid in two instalments - 80% before the mobility period begins and 20% after the completion of the mobility (more informations on this site)
