Heritage Futures: Time, Change and Future-Making

22.-26.2. 2027

The fourth edition of Natura et cultura, an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme, explores the relationships between nature, culture, and landscape through interdisciplinary learning. Bringing together perspectives from archaeology, philosophy, environmental humanities, and heritage studies, it examines how people shape, experience, and interpret their environments across time. The programme focuses on ecocultural heritage and the connections between cultural practices, ecological processes, and the meanings associated with places. It addresses environmental and societal change, the transformation of landscapes, and contemporary approaches to understanding and caring for cultural and natural heritage. The on-site programme will be complemented by online activities, with further details to be added.

Heritage Futures: Time, Change and Future-Making

What do we choose to carry forward? What are we prepared to change? And what kinds of futures are we creating through the ways we care for the past?

20–21 May 2027 | Trnava, Slovakia

Heritage Futures: Time, Change and Future-Making examines heritage as an active relationship between past, present and future. It asks how cultural and natural heritage is transformed by environmental change, technological innovation, changing social values and new forms of knowledge, and how heritage itself shapes the ways societies imagine and negotiate their futures. Bringing together the humanities, social sciences, education, economics, heritage management, conservation, environmental research, digital technologies and creative practice, the conference seeks dialogue across disciplinary boundaries. It welcomes theoretical contributions as well as case-based and practice-led research.
