Stakeholder Meetings Continue HERITAGE GAME Activities in Slovakia

The Slovak activities of the Erasmus+ project HERITAGE GAME (No. 2023-1-PT01-KA220-HED-000154261, “A Gamification Model for Community-Based Heritage Work”) continued in early 2026 with two further stakeholder meetings held on 8 January 2026 and 3 March 2026.

Following the first meetings in December, these sessions further developed cooperation between Trnava University in Trnava and local heritage stakeholders. They focused on practical questions related to heritage presentation, visitor engagement, and the role of local actors in shaping meaningful ways of interpreting the past.

An important point of reference for the Slovak part of the project is Archaeopark Cífer-Pác, which serves as a strong example of how archaeological heritage can be connected with education and public outreach. The site offers valuable possibilities for thinking about heritage not only as something to preserve, but also as something to experience, interpret, and share.

The January and March meetings created space for a more detailed discussion of how gamification could be applied in heritage work. The meetings were also attended by students and teachers from the BESST English-Slovak Bilingual School in Trnava.

Participants reflected on how storytelling, interactive formats, and community participation might enrich the presentation of archaeological and historical topics. Attention was also given to the role of students and young researchers, whose involvement can bring new perspectives and energy into heritage-related activities.

Beyond the project framework itself, the meetings were valuable as an opportunity for dialogue between the university and external partners. They helped strengthen existing contacts and supported the gradual formation of a local network of stakeholders interested in heritage, education, and innovative forms of public engagement.
